The telecom operator narrowed its consolidated loss after tax to 71.76 billion rupees ($850.7 million) for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared to a loss of 87.38 billion rupees a year ago, helped by an increase in tariffs. Vodafone Idea's user base fell 2.4% sequentially and 6.7% year-on-year to 205 million as of Sept. 30, smaller than Jio's 478.8 million and Airtel's 407 million. All three Indian mobile carriers—Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea—increased their tariffs in June for the first time in over two years, marking a shift in their strategy from aggressive competition for market share towards increasing profitability.
