Buyers targeted the engineering sector today after updates by Smiths Group, Babcock International and GKN Automotive business Dowlais. The trio’s shares all surged by double-digit percentages in a session when the FTSE 100 steadied after recent heavy selling. Blue-chip investors have also heard from Experian and SSE, while Just Eat Takeaway has sold Grubhub for a much cheaper price than it paid in 2020.
