GoPro slides, Tesla pops, Buffett's Berkshire to buy auto group
Time for your daily dose of Trending Tickers, the stocks that you're tracking as measured by Yahoo Finance ticker searches:
Easy come, easy GoPro (GPRO). Shares are down more than 10% on word of the selfie-friendly video camera company's founders will be selling 5.8 million shares to fund a charitable organization. JP Morgan (JPM) agreed to release Nicholas and Jill Woodman from lock-up restrictions that would have kept them from selling until next year. Who the hell put the underwriters in charge of determining when the lock-up would end? GoPro, of course. The Jill + Nicholas Woodman Foundation supports a cause to be named later. Really? They haven't mentioned a cause yet? Don't get mad at me. It's not my company. GoPro shares are still up more than 200% from their IPO price.
Tesla (TSLA) shares are up more than 3% after Elon Musk tweeted the cryptic message -- "about to unveil the D." Is it a new model of car? A new product altogether? No one but the inner sanctum at Tesla probably knows but it was enough to give this market darling another boost, reversing a rather frightful decline. As a shareholder I'm pretty much cool with whatever Elon wants as long as it's not just a naughty Snapchat.

Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) getting some chatter on word that paperboy turned multi-billionaire Warren Buffet is getting into the auto business. Berkshire has acquired Van Tuyl Group - the fifth largest dealership group in the nation. The news sent Berkshire shares a thousand points higher-- or about a half a percent. Earlier today on CNBC Warren said charming things and was cooed at appreciatively. He deserves it. He's Warren freaking Buffett.
