Hyatt Hotels Corporation is set to nearly double its portfolio in India, aiming for 100 properties within the next five to six years.

This expansion strategy is designed to capitalise on the growing opportunities in the region, according to a senior official of the company.

Hyatt Hotels India and Southwest Asia managing director Sunjae Sharma shared these insights in an emailed interview with Press Times of India, as reported by the Economic Times.

In March 2024, the company announced eight new properties, adding nearly 1,200 keys.

These hotels are expected to open in various leisure and city destinations by late 2024 and early 2025, further enhancing Hyatt's offerings in the country.

Hyatt currently features a presence in Southwest Asia with 52 hotels, 50 located in India and two in Nepal, spanning nine distinct brands. The company recently surpassed 10,000 rooms in the region.

Sharma said: "We have the third largest portfolio for Hyatt outside the Americas and China. Our portfolio will continue to expand with legacy brands, such as Hyatt Regency , Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric and the introduction of new brands."

Briefing about the company expansion plan for the near term, he adds: "The Hyatt Regency brand, which is a key growth driver for Hyatt in the region, will enter a new destination with the slated openings of Hyatt Regency Kasauli and Hyatt Regency Ghaziabad."

With Hyatt Place Haridwar and Hyatt Place Aurangabad, the brand has added two new locations in the region.

The Hyatt Place brand is anticipated to open with Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara (Bangladesh) in a new country soon.

The company is also planning properties at destinations such as Bhopal, where The Unbound Collection, another new brand is expected next year.
