A.P. Moller–Maersk, a Danish-integrated shipping company, has opened its first bonded warehouse in Vietnam at SLP Park, Nam Dinh Vu IP, Hai Phong Province.
The warehouse will be operated by Maersk Contract Logistics. It is a significant milestone for the firm as it develops its presence in northern Vietnam amid growing import and export demand from businesses.
The warehouse is standardized with an up-to-date racking system, sorting processes, inventory management and automated barcoding systems. Maersk says the facility will also prioritize minimizing electricity and energy consumption through maximizing the use of natural light, using energy-efficient LEDs and installing motion sensors in the office and public spaces.
Maersk's bonded warehouse is strategically located in the Hai Phong port area along the northern region's main logistics axis. It is also connected to Maersk's current distribution centre in Hai Phong and its future terminal at Latch Huyen Port, which is being developed as part of a strategic partnership between the Dutch shipping company APM Terminals and Vietnamese firm Hateco.
The connection is expected to enhance Maersk's ability to provide advanced storage solutions and operational efficiencies, further optimizing customers' supply chains and opening up local growth opportunities.
Mr. Lasse Pedersen Hjortsh?j, commercial counsellor at the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, attended the event and highlighted his support for global business expansion.
Kevin Burrell, area managing director of Maersk Mekong (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar) said the company "always aims to bring the most optimal logistics solutions to our customers."
"We believe that running our own bonded warehouse directly helps us to synchronize processes for our clients. It also improves service quality and cost controls. We sincerely thank Amazon for choosing Maersk as a long-term partner in Vietnam and look forward to achieving greater success together," he added.
The cross-border e-commerce service provider Amazon Vietnam will begin operations in October as the first client for this new facility. The warehouse also connects Maersk with its current partner, SLP, Southeast Asia's leading industrial and logistics infrastructure developer.
"Maersk opens first bonded warehouse in North Vietnam, partners with Amazon" was originally created and published by Investment Monitor, a GlobalData owned brand.
