Money Minute: 5 ways to earn extra cash at home
Having a side hustle doesn’t mean you have to leave the house. I’ll tell you how to earn money right at home in this week’s Money Minute.
Rent out your stuff. If you’ve got an extra room to spare, set up an Airbnb listing. Some states limit the number of days renters can rent rooms, so be sure to check your state laws first. Other than your pad, you can also rent out your bike on Spinlister or your car through turo.com.
Work as a virtual assistant. Sites like Upwork.com make it simple to market yourself as a virtual assistant. You’ll need good computer skills and know how to multitask. The best part is you can probably make your own hours.
Get paid to shop online. If you’re running all your shopping errands online, why not get paid for it? Sign up for ebates and get cashback at hundreds of websites. Swagbucks.com lets you earn points and redeem them for gift cards or coupons.
Sell old clothing and household goods. You know that $200 juicer you only used once? Why not sell it and make some cash back? You can easily sell appliances on Craigslist, eBay or Amazon.com. Then get creative. Sell your old wedding dress on Preownedweddingdresses.com or sell clothes you never wear through sites like ThredUP. You can even rent your clothes on rentnotbuy.com.
Become an online tutor. If you’re skilled in a certain subject area, set up shop at home as a virtual tutor. You can work online though a company like Chegg.com or work independently.
