Chinese telecommunications company ZTE has partnered with China Telecom's Suzhou branch to install a 5G internet of things (IoT) solution at The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University.

The integrated network solution enables a unified network supporting both public and private applications, allowing IoT applications to be used in healthcare.

It is designed to create a cost-efficient, simplified network structure, connecting more than 3,000 terminals and reducing upgradation costs by around 80%.

Since its launch last year, the collaboration has aimed to build a 5G smart hospital.

ZTE's '1+M+X' model supports multiple smart digital platforms, integrating clinical workflows, assets and data.

This scalable network solution lays a digital foundation for smart hospital operations, enabling core application scenarios such as smart emergency services and inpatient treatment.

During emergencies, 5G allows patients' vital signs to be monitored continuously, with smartphones replacing medical portable device assistants (PDAs) for enhanced efficiency.

With regard to inpatient care, the 5G-Round vehicle allows real-time imaging diagnostics, shortening diagnostic times and facilitating informed decision-making.

The smart digital platform also aims to promote efficient resource allocation and remote tracking of infusions.

These mobile healthcare innovations are intended to improve medical staff work efficiency and patient outcomes.

In addition, the 5G IoT integrated network solution is scalable and can integrate diagnostic and elderly care services.

In partnership with The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and the Suzhou Branch of China Telecom, ZTE plans to advance 5G technology integration into the development of digital society.

The company aims to improve the working environment for medical staff and make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible.

Based in Shenzhen, ZTE's telecommunications solutions are currently used in more than 160 countries and regions worldwide.

The company currently employs 36,000 research and development staff and has 89,500 global patent applications.
