TIM is one of the top three wireless carriers by subscribers in Brazil, with 54 million subscribers, equal to about a quarter of the market. It leads the prepaid segment, with 33 million customers. The company is 67%-owned by Telecom Italia. TIM owns some fixed-line assets, including Intelig, which possesses an extensive long-haul fiber network, and AES Atimus, which strengthens its fixed-line presence in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The firm is investing to expand its fiber network to more customer locations, currently reaching about 2.3 million premises with fiber-to-the-home service.
