BRIAN SOZZI: Hey, if there's something strange, and it may look good, call your local Dunkin' Donuts. The company is rolling out a new product called Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut. It will be served nationwide. It will have a strawberry flavoring icing, along with Cayenne and Ghost pepper. Alexis, this sounds pretty good. Maybe this is one reason why Dunkin' stock's up 30% in the past three months.
ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: I don't know, if that's all it takes is a scary donut, way to go for them. I don't know, you know, I guess it's going to be sweet and savory. I am a fan of that. I have not tried this donut yet, I probably will. I think it's interesting, but also, I don't know, it's a little bit scary. What do you think?
INES FERRE: Well, I know Ines is excited about it.
INES FERRE: I am, because you said Cayenne pepper. I think anything with Cayenne pepper is good. So it'll be sweet also with a kick to it. A big kick. That's what I like, so I think it's going to be good. Haven't tried it.
BRIAN SOZZI: Emily we've-- you know, for so many years, we saw fast food like, try new items. But that has gone quiet this year. It's good to see some innovation. And it coming from Dunkin'.
- Absolutely, Brian, and as you mentioned, the stock of course up over the past couple months, up for the year to date, continuing to try and bring out these new products. As we know, just looking at the fast food space overall, that breakfast category of course, exceptionally important to try and get consumers at the start of their day. That's been a little bit quiet because of people working from home. So Dunkin' obviously trying to reinvigorate that here with a new donut offering.
BRIAN SOZZI: You know, who has also been trying to innovate, Ines. It is McDonald's. Look what they did with that Travis Scott burger.
INES FERRE: Oh yeah. McDonald's-- actually, the McDonald's breakfast offerings are very good as well. I've had it a few times during the pandemic, delivery, and that's been amazing as well. So even though it has been slow for-- as far as breakfast is concerned, because people aren't really going that much out-- but for delivery, it's been great.
BRIAN SOZZI: You know, Alexis it's interesting, all these restaurants, they've gone digital. I was ordering some coffee from my Dunkin' Donuts over the weekend. I just placed my order on an app and picked it right up. But the places were packed, it's amazing. And then they may not opening up restaurants at the same pace, but what they're doing on digital during the pandemic is pretty interesting.
ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: I've witnessed the same thing here in New York City. Lots of folks still need their pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks. And all of their sort of fall specialties. And I guess Dunkin' is throwing their hat in the ring with this spicy donut. What do you call it? A spicy--
BRIAN SOZZI: Ghost Pepper Donut.
ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: All right, we'll see how it goes.
