Admiral Bill McRaven, one of America’s most decorated veterans, breaks down why hiring veterans benefits not just them, but the businesses themselves, on the debut episode of Yahoo Finance's Warrior Money.

Encouraging companies to seek veterans for their workforce, McRaven notes it’s a great way for companies to give back. “If you want to do something for vets, give them a job,” he says. “Put them some place where they feel of value; where they have comrades they can work through tough issues on... They have to feel that they are of some value to an organization.”

In turn, veterans bring a unique set of traits to the companies they join. “They’re going to work hard,” he explains. “Of course, they also have leadership skills.”

“Even if they’re not in charge, they know how to be a good teammate,” he adds.
