Video Transcript
SEANA SMITH: It's time for "Triple Play," three stocks that we're watching in the final 30 minutes. We have Meta, Tesla, and Uber. Let's kick it off with Meta. Instagram releasing an update giving you more control over your feed. You'll now be able to block posts containing specific words or hashtags of your choice. You're also going to have the option to use quiet mode. Now that is a new feature that silences notifications, also auto responds to direct messages. The updates from Instagram coming as lawmakers push the company to address harmful effects on younger users.
And Josh, we know Meta has been long criticized for the fact that its app, Instagram, has on younger users, as many of its competitors out there in the social media space. I like this. I'm a fan of this, the quiet mode. If you don't want to erase your app, it's a very easy way to keep Instagram, the app, on your phone, and kind of put it in the background for a little bit.
JOSH SCHAFER: The question I have with it, with quiet mode, is, the people that need quiet mode, are they going to opt in for quiet mode? I was sort of thinking, Dave, maybe you have this more, like, the parents-- if you're under 18, the parent has access to turn on quiet mode on their child's app. Something more like that feels like we're getting somewhere.
SEANA SMITH: I'm into this. I'm very--
DAVE BRIGGS: Because as it's laid out, serves absolutely no purpose as I see it. We already have what's called the Do Not Disturb feature on every iPhone that silences all those notifications. So as it stands, until they listen to Josh here, completely agree.
SEANA SMITH: Well, maybe that's the next iteration. They should be listening to Josh.
JOSH SCHAFER: We'll send a memo in.
