Wang reveals that critical benefits spanning generations include medical, dental, and vision coverage, alongside emerging nontraditional benefits such as mental health support, learning and development programs, and education reimbursement.

"In each generation, they may be weighted differently," she notes, but these are things everyone is looking for.

Regarding employer strategies, Wang emphasizes the importance of continuous communication and benefit education. "Open enrollment is a one-time event, and it shouldn't be," she tells Yahoo Finance. "That ongoing conversation around the education of benefits that are relevant, that employees may not think are relevant, but will be relevant at some point in time because something may happen."
