Pelosi backs Harris. What are the next steps in her 2024 bid?

Democratic leadership is throwing its support behind Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential bid after President Biden announced his withdrawal from the exit on Sunday and endorsed his running mate. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) voiced her support for Harris on Monday; Pelosi was among top Democrats who were growing concerned about Biden's candidacy and his ability to defeat Trump.

Although endorsed by Biden, Harris still has to receive the Democratic Party's formal nomination by Biden delegates at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago next month.

"She is raising almost $100 million in 24 hours, which makes her, basically unbeatable for any other Democratic candidate," Veda Partners managing partner and director of economic policy Henrietta Treyz tells Yahoo Finance. "And then probably the most obvious component here is that all of her challengers, whether it's Gretchen Whitmer or Gavin Newsom, have come out and endorsed her."

Treyz comments on who could populate the field of likely vice president candidates for Harris's 2024 ticket that could aid in winning over swing state voters.
