SpaceX's Crew-9 mission has successfully reached the International Space Station (ISS) after launching on Saturday. In addition to experiments, the mission has an additional, special task: to bring home two astronauts who've been stranded on the ISS since June after it was deemed that they shouldn't return to Earth aboard Boeing's (BA) Starliner. Founder of Space Capital and author of "The Space Economy," Chad Anderson shares his thoughts on SpaceX's latest accomplishment.
Anderson calls this a "rescue mission by the former underdog." He explains that Boeing was once seen as the "safe bet" for space missions, while SpaceX was just viewed as a startup. But SpaceX has turned the tables, completing space missions successfully and at a much lower cost than its rivals.
"They have found a way to do all of this and to self-correct their engineering and their processes in a way that allows them to do things in a way that no one else has been able to do, Anderson told Yahoo Finance of SpaceX. He also highlights SpaceX's satellite technology, specifically Starlink.
"SpaceX is the apex player," Anderson emphasizes.
