Usually, when one insider buys stock, it might not be a monumental event. But when multiple insiders are buying like they did in the case of American Coastal Insurance Corporation (NASDAQ:ACIC), that sends out a positive message to the company's shareholders.

The Independent Director Michael Hogan made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$91k worth of shares at a price of US$11.37 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$10.44 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.
In the last twelve months insiders purchased 16.57k shares for US$168k. On the other hand they divested 5.25k shares, for US$59k. Overall, American Coastal Insurance insiders were net buyers during the last year. Their average price was about US$10.11. It's great to see insiders putting their own cash into the company's stock, albeit at below the recent share price. American Coastal Insurance Insiders Bought Stock Recently
Over the last three months, we've seen a bit of insider buying at American Coastal Insurance. Independent Director Michael Hogan bought US$91k worth of shares in that time. But President Bennett Martz sold US$59k worth. It is nice to see that insiders have bought, but the quantum isn't large enough to get us excited.
Insider Ownership Of American Coastal Insurance
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that American Coastal Insurance insiders own 49% of the company, worth about US$248m. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
