Vestas has secured an order for the 347MW Pohénégamook - Picard - Saint-Antonin - Wolastokuk (PPAW) wind project in Quebec, Canada.

The order includes the supply, delivery and commissioning of 56 Vestas Enventus V162-6.2 MW turbines and a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement to ensure their optimum operation.

The EnVentus turbines by Vestas are designed to be adaptable, offering a variety of standard hub heights and operational modes. These can be tailored with a range of technological options to meet the specific requirements of each project. This flexibility is crucial in addressing the diverse needs of the global wind energy market.

Vestas North America president Laura Beane stated: “This is a significant deal for Canada, and we’re thrilled to partner with Invenergy as they continue to expand their North American wind energy portfolio.

“This collaboration, alongside Quebec’s ambitious net zero goals, is confirmation of our shared vision for a clean energy future, and we are pleased to provide our leading EnVentus platform to help meet those ambitions.”

Invenergy vice-president for renewable development Louis Robert stated: “Along with our partner, Alliance de l'énergie de l'Est, Invenergy is thrilled to work with Vestas to begin laying the groundwork for the future PPAW Wind Energy Center. T

“We look forward to building on our existing relationship with Vestas, to support Quebec’s energy transition.”

The delivery and commissioning of the turbines will take place in 2025.

Vestas recently received a 144MW order from African Clean Energy Developments for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm in Western Cape, South Africa. This turbine delivery is expected in the first half of 2025, with commissioning in early 2026.
